Black Myth Wukong Review Amazing Action RPG Gameplay

Black Myth Wukong Review

A fun action game with good battles, cool bosses, and some surprising glitches. I’ve never been as let down by a game as I was with Black Myth: Wukong. It’s one of the most exciting action games I’ve ever played.

It’s really beautiful, and your competition is strong. It’s very tough, but getting through it always feels good. Plus, the area around you is filled with rich, fresh, and special Chinese culture. Even with all this, keeping everything in order can often be hard.

Even with a GeForce RTX 4090, my PC kept crashing a lot (I couldn’t test it on PlayStation 5 since that version wasn’t available). Plus, I kept falling through the ground and dying many times. I want to beat a really tough boss or watch how characters suddenly change from English to Chinese.

Black Myth: The Story of Wukong” is a follow-up to Wu Chenggen’s famous book “Journey to the West.” I like this book because of its loose adaptations, like Dragon Ball and Unleashed: Odyssey to the West.

Visual and Narrative Masterpiece All in Once

Since it came out, people have loved it for how it handles the Chinese language. It uses Unreal Engine 5 and gives a great experience. It lets players dive into a real and beautifully made world of Chinese stories.

The Crazy Rush of the First Week

It’s been two weeks since Black Myth: Wukong came out. It got a quick reaction from gamers. Players enjoy the fighting style in the game. People are sharing videos of cool battles and pictures of great scenes. The game is said to be at the top of global sales charts.

You play as “The Destined One,” a real monkey who wakes up one day and sets off on a long journey of almost 40 hours to find the six relics of Wukong. The story is often told step by step, especially since the main character doesn’t speak.

Supporting characters don’t get much time to grow. Each of the six chapters ends with a gorgeous animated clip that tells a short story about the main villain.

Each one has a unique art style: one looks like a storybook, another uses stop-motion animation, and another is designed in an anime style. They are all beautiful and inspiring, but I wish the main story had motivated me just as much.

Wukong: More Forgiving but Still Just as Tough

Even though I’m a big fan of Souls games, it seems like Wukong is making the right choice by leaving out those mechanics. The game is more forgiving and keeps you focused on playing, instead of making you deal with menus or go back to get lost money after you die.

When I say it’s more forgiving, I don’t mean it’s easier than a tough game. I found Wukong’s biggest challenges harder to beat compared to Alden Ring: Shadow of the Erudite Tree (and there’s no tough decision to make).

But these challenges never seemed unfair. Facing tough boss fights was always satisfying because I had to learn their attack patterns and find the best way to deal with the damage. Gotta get it. War in Black Myth: Wukong is easy and stylish, with some tools that make it enjoyable to play.

There’s a great mix of combat choices

Finally, there are special abilities you get by defeating stronger enemies and taking their power into the gourd. These are like transformations that last for just one attack and take a long time to recharge.

It’s great to use the Wandering Wight’s strong headbutt attack to stun enemies. You can also level up these spirit abilities, so even early-game spirits stay useful at the start of a campaign.

It’s a great mix of choices, especially with some amazing boss fights. Wukong introduces everything gradually, so I never feel overwhelmed.

Don’t forget: Destiny is very strong, and mastering it is a journey of strength, even more than many other powers and abilities.

Wukong is one of the best games I’ve ever played

Also, there are some hidden boss fights to find, important items with unknown uses that I haven’t found yet, and lots of other reasons to go off the main path. Most importantly, Wukong is one of the most amazing games I’ve ever played.

Black-Myth-Wukong-Best-Game

Every part of the game is detailed, like the sound of tree bark crunching in the forest and the snow breaking as you move. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is walking by with his stick.

The movement is cool. When you control an enemy, your character moves a bit faster, spins around to shoot, and then spins again. The music and sound design are great, with the exciting battle music featuring drums, flutes, and lovely bells that add a sense of wonder and mystery to exploring new areas. Overall, the game could use a simpler map.

The areas you see in Wukong are nice, but they are huge and full of mysteries that no boat can help with, especially in the second and third chapters.

The Verdict

Black Myth: Wukong, GameSci’s first action game, is a big hit, even though it had some major technical and localization problems that might have disappointed players at the start.

Because of the great mix of careful resource management and very fast gameplay, it tested my skills like Elden Ring did, even though it’s a more traditional action game than From Software’s style.
